Information & Policies

Please register for classes as soon as possible. Spots will not be held without a registration fee, September tuition, and a registration form. Registration fees are $15 per student or $20 per family. There are no refunds on registration fees and new students will be accepted through November if there is space available. However, if a class does not have at least 4 students enrolled by August 27th, the class will be cancelled and refunds will be given at that time. Students must be at least 2 years old by September 1st to register.

Classes will run from September thru May with Holiday breaks that do not necessarily follow the school schedule. There are no refunds for missed classes, however make up sessions are available for a “Private lesson” fee. Attendance is critical to the development and discipline of dance. It is very important that students attend as many classes as possible. If a student is injured, they are more than welcome to come and watch class, but if they are sick and contagious, please stay at home and rest. Having a healthy body is number one!!

Please call or email in advance when a student must miss a class. During the final four weeks before the recital or a competition it is unacceptable to miss a class unless for health reasons. Doing so will result in being pulled from the recital.

Students will be placed in classes based on age and skill/experience level which is determined by our staff.

Observing classes is not allowed except on predetermined dates. We will let you know in advance what days are reserved for observation.

Pictures will be held in the month of April. Students must wear their costumes and be in the picture even if they will not be ordering any photos.

Please use the bathroom before entering the classroom. If small children cannot go to the bathroom by themselves, please stay in the waiting area to help them if need be. This also goes for students who have any kind of separation anxiety. We will do our best in class, but cannot have extra staff available if your child needs help outside of the classroom.

Discipline Actions:

1. Child gets a verbal warning and is redirected.
2. Verbal warning is reiterated.
3. Child must sit and watch class for 3-5 minutes (usually during a fun game).
4. Child needs to sit in lobby with parent. After the situation is over, the teacher will discuss what happened with the child and help the child brainstorm ways to prevent it from happening again. If you feel like it would be a good idea to stay in the waiting area for your child, please do. The teachers will always be able to explain to you how your child is behaving in class.

Tuition

Tuition is due the first lesson of every month and is the same every month regardless of the number of classes or weeks in that month. You will find the tuition price on the Class Description page. There is a late fee of $5 for every week that tuition is not paid. Tuition may be paid monthly or for the entire nine months in which there is a discount of 5%. Stella has the right to drop a student for non-payment and checks that are returned are $30 payable in cash.

If a student wishes to discontinue their membership in a class, please provide a written note one month in advance. If you pre-pay and drop a class, the remaining balance will be a Stella credit good on tuition only.

There are no refunds for weather cancellations. Please watch for the Prescott School District closings which will indicate Stella to be closed as well.

For every other child in the family, there is a discount of $5 per month for the first year. Boys are half price tuition for their first year enrollment.

Costumes are ordered in December for the May recital and payment is due in the month of November. They will be $55-$65 each and all students will need one costume per class unless they are in the competition lines. This payment is non-refundable and will not be ordered without payment. Students need a costume for pictures in April and the recital in May.

Dress Code and Class Information

Our dress code is very important to us at Stella and to the learning and progression of your dancer. Please make sure you follow the rules for each class.

Summer: Students may wear any color as long as they are dance clothes. No jeans please.

Regular Schedule:

• Twinklers- Black leotards, pink tights, black tap shoes and pink ballet shoes. Hair must be pulled off of face. Please put your student’s name in their shoes, if not directly, than with a label or piece of tape on the bottom. If they are not marked on the first day, your teacher will use a permanent marker to write their names on them. Ballet shoes-when you first put the shoe on your student, tie a knot in the strings, and then cut the excess. Again, this will be done on the first day in class if you did not do it. Further, do not buy shoes that are way too large in hopes that they will grow into them. Dance shoes need to fit properly or the student will not be able to dance in them. They fall off or are uncomfortable for the student.
• All Ballet classes- Black leotards, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Hair must be in a tight bun.
• All other non-competing lines- Any color leotard, tank top, tights, or pants. Must be form fitting. No baggy clothes or jeans. Hair must be pulled back and off of face. Black tap and tan jazz shoes. Hip Hop classes need either jazz shoes or CLEAN tennis shoes.
• Competition Lines- Black leotard, tank top, tights, or pants. Black tap and tan lyrical/jazz shoes.

We will order shoes in the summer and students will be able to try them on at the Open House for sizes. After that, they will be ordered on a monthly basis. We understand that many people come from different studios and have different color shoes. These are fine to wear for the first part of the season, but by January 1st your students must have the correct pair of shoes for the recital or performance. As a general rule for all students, no jewelry or accessories in class that do not help to hold hair in place. No necklaces, earrings (studs are okay), or bracelets which includes silly bands.

Twinklers-Please make sure that your student has their own dance bag, which they will bring into class with them. Put their name on the bag, preferably on the outside (a piece of tape works great!)

Discounts

• No registration fee if a student is enrolled by May 1st.
• 5% off tuition if it is paid upfront for the entire year. (Nine months)
• When one child is enrolled, all other family members enrolled received $5 off tuition every month.
• 2nd Class each child is enrolled is 10% off entire monthly bill, 3rd class and so on is 20% off total tuition
• Boys are ½ price tuition for their first year enrollment.

Holiday's - No Classes

• Thanksgiving- Nov. 21st-Nov. 27th
• Winter Break- Dec. 19th-Jan. 1st
• Spring Break- March 12th -18th
